We look forward to seeing you and exploring the fascinating natural herd behaviour of cattle together.

The horse has a history spanning more than 800,000 years, evolving across diverse climates and landscapes. Far from simply being a domesticated "steppe species," horses retain the ecological flexibility and distinctive biology that make them important ecosystem engineers.

The presentation explores the horse´s evolutionary history, ecological role and potential future as wild species - arguing for genetically diverse, robust populations living under natural social and ecological conditions.

Who is Jens-Christian Svenning?

Professor Jens-Christian Svenning, Director of the Center for Ecological Dynamics in a Novel Biosphere (ECONOVO) at Aarhus University, is a world-renowned researcher in biodiversity and rewilding. His research focuses particularly on trophic rewilding, novel ecosystems, macroecology, biodiversity and ecosystem resilience in a changing climate.
